| School of Mechanical & Electronic Engineering
The SSPU School of Mechanical & Electronic Engineering was through a merger of the former Department of Mechanical Engineering of SSPU and the former Department of the Mechanical Engineering of Shanghai Donghu Vocational & Technical College. Persisting in its traditional education philosophy of rigorous scholarship and industry-university cooperation, the school has cultivated a large number of knowledge-based and application-oriented outstanding engineers and technicians, including Li Bin and Bao Qifan, the two famous national model workers and distinguished inventors. The school has undertaken several National 863 Key Research Projects and many other research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipal Government. The school was awarded a first prize, a second prize and a third prize of Science & Technology Progress by the Shanghai Municipal Government, has got many National Invention patents and Practical New Pattern patents, has published a large number scientific research papers on domestic and international academic journals and many books.
The school consists of Department of Mechanical & Electronic Control Engineering, Department of Mechanical Design Engineering, Department of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering & Industrial Design, Central Laboratory, and ¡°Shanghai Mechatronics Vocational Qualification Assessment Agency¡±. The school currently has 68 staff members including 5 professors, 12 associate professors, 2 senior engineers, and 14 Master degree holder, and enrolls 1689 students.
The school offers three undergraduate programs including Mechanical Engineering & Automation, Mechanical & Electronic Engineering, and Industrial Engineering, and seven diploma programs including Machine Tool Digital Control Technology, Mechatronics, and Mechanical Manufacturing Technology and Equipment. ¡°Machine Tool Digital Control Technology¡± was approved by the Ministry of Education as a experimental program of the Tertiary Vocational Teaching Reform, and was awarded the title of ¡°State-of-the-Arts Ter tiary Vocation Program¡±. In recent four years, the school has successful run a Sino-Australia joint ¡°Mechatronics¡± program, and has also achieved the consecutive job placement rates of 100% for its graduates.
