| School of Science
In accordance with the university¡¯s development plan, the SSPU School of Science was founded in May 2002. At present, the school consists of Department of Applied Mathematics, Department of Operations Research and Statistics, Department of Applied Physics, and Central Laboratory.
The school currently has 41 staff members, among whom 10 are professors and associate professors, and 11 hold Master's degrees. The school has recruited a group of youthful faculty members with high academic achievements, which include an obtainer of Shanghai Municipal Outstanding Teaching Award, a Shanghai Municipal Outstanding Educator, and many other teachers with excellent performance in teaching and research. The school is participating in two National Natural Science Foundation research projects, is in charge of one Shanghai Municipal Natural Science Foundation research project, and also has undertaken several research projects funded Shanghai Education Committee. The school offers one undergraduate program (Information & Technology Science) and three vocational higher learning programs (Statistics, Optical Equipment Application and Administration, and Architectural Decoration Technology).
The School of Science built its developing philosophy upon the balance of theoretical basis and practical specialty, basis supporting specialty while specialty leading basis. The school emphasizes cultivating students¡¯ innovation consciousness and ability, and pursues the highest standard of scientific education and all-around development. The mathematical modeling teams of this school have won many top prizes in recent National College Students¡¯ Mathematical Modeling Contests. |
