School of Foreign Languages

 
The SSPU School of Foreign Languages was founded in 1987. The school currently has 64 staff members including 58 teachers, among whom there are 1 professor and 10 associate professors; 2 of the teachers hold Doctor¡¯s degrees, 19hold Master's degrees, and 18 are graduate candidates.
 
Established in 1987, the foreign language faculty of SSPU now boasts 64 teaching staff including 58 teachers among which 1 is professor, 10 are associate professor, 2 are doctor, 19 are post graduator and 18 are on line post graduator. The school consists of English Department, Japanese Department, and College English Teaching Department. The school offers one undergraduate program - Business English and diploma programs ¨C Business English and Business Japanese.
 
Aiming at cultivating multi-skilled, application-oriented foreign language talents characterized by ¡°Foreign language + Specialty¡±, the school emphasizes both language skills training and real life practice based on a strict teaching quality assurance system. Following the trend of society¡¯s demands, the school has been continually integrating new courses into its teaching plans.  and constantly meeting the social needs. 96% of the school¡¯s graduates have been employed by the companies and organizations related to foreign trading, foreign affairs and cultures, and foreign investments.
 
Besides its own programs, the school is responsible for foreign languages teaching for all the university¡¯s non-English major students, and also offers various elective English and Japanese courses. As one of the 180 national experimental universities, the school has actively participated in the College English Teaching reform initiated by the Ministry to further improve the quality of college English teaching. In the meantime, the school takes the chair of the Shanghai Intercollegiate Steering Committee for Tertiary Vocational English Teaching, and is playing an important leading role in this area.
