School of Applied Arts Design

 
The SSPU School of Applied Arts Design was founded 2001. The establishment of professional Apple and PC rooms, a photo studio, a darkroom, a handicraft workroom, an art gallery, an art reference room and a multi-media academic conference hall, has demonstrated the commitment of the department to offer students an appealing artistic environment and academic atmosphere. Active in introducing international advanced education philosophy and teaching methods, the school has initiated a new training mode based on ¡°Interactive Workshop¡± to facilitate the student-oriented interactive teaching process, emphasizing the development of students¡¯ cultural attainments and comprehensive competencies.
 
In recent years, the school has successfully designed the logo and mascot for the 48th World Table-Tennis Championships, the mascot for the Shanghai Match of the 2004 Women¡¯s beach Volleyball World Tour, the poster for the 2nd National Vocational Skills Competitions for Disabled, etc. The school¡¯s modern industrial product designs have won a first prize and an excellence award during the 6th Shanghai International Expo. The school has been intensively involved in a series of products design and development projects for many well-known multinational and domestic companies, and has got more a hundred patents.
 
 In its undergraduate program ¡°Art Design¡±, the school offers three specialties: Digital Information Communication Design, Modern Product Design and Modern Living Space Design. In conformity with the strategic positioning of Shanghai international metropolitan economy, all these specialties are based on modern art design theory, and social and industrial development background. Based on the cross-disciplinary and work-learning education philosophy, the school is striving to cultivate application-oriented future designers and managers characterized by strong aesthetic and innovation abilities.
